Internet Tip: "scheme" portion of a URL...

Internet Tips fans,

This is the 2nd in a series of tips on how to do tricky things with URLs.

The “scheme” portion of a URL is typically “http:” or “https:”. But it can be so much more. There are hundreds of other schemes.

BTW, for those of you reading ahead to subsequent tips, be warned that many of the tips already posted to the site are not really finished. I’ll be adding more info to some of them as I get them ready to be mailed out, one per day. Some of what you see there now is a pre-staged, partially written series of related tips. If you read ahead, watch especially for “Coming soon…” that flags whole tips not yet really written, and “??” that flags specific details to be added.

Love your enthusiasm, but patience is a virtue…
